Wednesday: Homework Buddy on Pearsonrealize.com
Thursday: Homework Buddy OR “Flipped Classroom” 2-3 videos on Pearsonrealize.com which are typically 2-4 minutes each. Students will take brief notes to demonstrate understanding. (We will practice in class, but these usually contain a brief description of skill, an example problem, and sometimes a picture that shows the skill.) *Notes will be checked on Mondays.
*Please check the agenda sheet in the red folder for specific lessons for Pearsonrealize.com and Freckle (Freckle will be a weekly assignment but will not begin for a few weeks.)
Nightly homework does not equal studying or practice. Nightly homework only ensures that a skill is understood initially. Just 5 minutes a day or a few times a week practicing the skills that are learned in 3rd grade or a lower grade, will help students remember them and commit them to their long-term memory. I truly encourage you to seek ways to incorporate math into your child’s life beyond the nightly assignments.
Parents I encourage you to have your child practice learned skills from second grade, and once a unit is completed please continue to reteach and encourage learning as we move through the curriculum.
